Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton escaped the struggles in her early life by using her creative and imaginative imagination. Prior to learning how to write or read she wrote herself songs. When she got her first instrument at age 8, she started to play on local radio stations from Knoxville in Tennessee. That that same time, Gold Band Records was a small independent record label. While she was a local star while in High School, she knew her goals were greater. After graduating from high school in 1964 she immediately moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner began looking for new female vocalists for his syndicated television program at about the same time. Parton was hired in the year 1967, signed with RCA Records by 1968, and became a member of the Grand Ole Opry. However, it wasn't until 1974 that she opted to walk away from Wagoner's show because the success of her solo albums including Joshua Coat, Many Colors and Jolene had outstripped their collaborative efforts. Parton's song, I Will Never Love You (for Wagoner), reached the number. number 1 position after the duo split. This was the first time a song reached No.
